    Can I create Student accounts in batch?

    Previously, if a counselor needed to add more than one student account, they would have to repeatedly  use the ADD STUDENT button from the Counselor dashboard to enter the student information.

    To help counselors be more efficient, College Kickstart enabled a new ADD STUDENT panel on the settings page which makes it easier to create multiple student accounts at once.

    In the top banner, counselors can view the total number of licenses available to create accounts.

    Counselors have the option to add students' information manually either by A) using the ADD STUDENT button or by B) using the IMPORT button to upload a CSV file.

    A) Using the ADD STUDENT button from the ADD STUDENTS panel

    Using the ADD STUDENT button, counselors can directly add a student by typing the student's class, first and last name, email, and the email address of the primary counselor working with the student into the table.

    After making all changes, counselors will be able to SAVE DRAFT to save the currently entered students and continue later, DISCARD DRAFT to delete and not save changes, or PUBLISH their changes.

    After pressing PUBLISH, the counselor needs to confirm changes.

    B) Using the IMPORT button to upload a CSV file.

    If there is an extensive class roster, it may be easier to use a CSV file to add students than to manually update the table.  Use the IMPORT button to start the Upload File panel.

    NOTE: "Unpublished data will be overwritten", meaning that any manual changes you may have entered and saved as a draft before choosing to import will not be kept.

    The template file is saved as "students_template.csv" and includes columns for the student's class, first and last name, email, and the email address of the primary counselor working with the student.

    Upload the file with the new data and then click VALIDATE. Counselors will get an error if some required fields are missing, incorrect, or if students' accounts already exist.

    If there are any issues with, clicking on VIEW ERROR DETAILS button will open a small report on which student records were excluded and for what reason.  Corrections must be made by editing the CSV file and then re-uploading and re-validating it.

    Once all the issues are resolved and the import is successful, the table will automatically show all updates from the file.  Counselors will be able to SAVE DRAFT to continue later, DISCARD DRAFT to reset all additions, or PUBLISH to create the student accounts.
