Creating the college list is one of the key components in running College Kickstart. This article will explain how to do the following:
Searching For Schools
1. You can see a full list of all 700+ schools and departments that we cover here: Schools we cover
2. Alternatively, if you are logged into College Kickstart, you can view all schools that are included within your specific plan.
Click in the school search bar labeled "Enter your college name here". Enter space to show the complete list of schools available for your plan.
3. Alternatively, try using our tags
The tag icon () in the top right corner is an extra feature that filters the displayed schools by common characteristics. Refer to this article for further details: Tags: Shortcut For Adding Schools
NOTE: Depending on your subscription, you may notice some schools have separate departments listed under the school. Check out this article to understand why this may matter: Difference Between Selecting A Department vs The School |
Adding Schools
1. Click in the school search bar labeled "Enter your college name here".
2. Start typing in the name of the school you’d like to add.
As you type, all matching results will appear. When you’ve found the school you want, click on the checkbox to the left of the school name to add it to your list.
- The text box is search-based and includes aliases for institutions. This means you can type UCSD instead of typing the University of California at San Diego.
NOTE: Depending on your subscription, there may be limitations to the size of your school list. Check this article to see your maximum list limit: What's the maximum number of schools I can have in a list? |
Deleting Schools
Click on the X to the left of the school you want to delete.
Reordering Schools
Hover over the rank column of the school you want to move. Then click and drag the school to the desired position.
What should I do if I'm not able to rank my schools in order of interest?
If you're still early in the planning process, just give it your best guess for now, and you can change the order of the school list anytime.
You will want to start finalizing your lists as soon as you can, especially to prioritize early admission opportunities that are available and understand how best to set up an action plan to minimize wasted motion.
What is the heart for?
The heart tells us whether you’re strongly committed to attending a school if accepted, and whether certain early admission programs, particularly Early Decision (ED), may be appropriate to consider. The heart is only available for the first and second schools in the list. By default, the hearts are unselected. If you're certain the school is your top choice and you're sure you will attend if accepted, click on the heart icon next to the first and/or second school in the list.
