What is the purpose of this panel?

The purpose of this panel is to upload student high school IDs into College Kickstart. This panel is part of the process to connect your historical admissions data to student plans if you are using student ID.

    How It Works

Counselor admins can navigate to Admin, Settings, and find the Update Student IDs panel. Click the blue button labeled "Update" button to open the modal.

To choose the file you want to upload, click on the button labeled "Browse" to open file explorer or finder, and find your csv file. After choosing your file, click Validate to check for any issues in your csv file. Check this section below for more tips about your csv file

If you see a red alert appear after validating your file, click the button labeled "View Error Details" to see more details about the issues found in your file. You can delete problematic rows or resolve typos in your file.

After your file is validated, if you see a green success alert, you are ready to proceed with updating student ids. To continue, click the blue button labeled "Import".

You will see a final confirmation panel to confirm student IDs you are about to update. The confirmation panel will list all students that were recognized by email. The student name and email are from the student's College Kickstart accounts, which were created when you added students into College Kickstart. If you previously imported student IDs, they will appear in the "Current ID" column. All IDs will be updated to the value that appears in the "New ID" column, highlighted in blue.

If you are ready to update your student ids, click "Confirm" at the bottom right of the panel. To cancel the update, just click Cancel on the bottom right of the panel.

Once IDs are updated, they will stay saved in our system. They will not be overwritten unless you upload a file including the student's email and new ID value to update. For example, let's say this year, you upload student ids for classes 2024-2026. Next year, if you upload student ids for just class of 2027, the ids you previously uploaded for 2024-2026 will not be overwritten and stay saved, and will just update IDs for 2027 students.

    Tips For Your CSV File

To download a template file, click the blue button labeled "TEMPLATE" in the alert banner at the top of the modal.

At a minimum, your csv file needs one of each of the following columns: email and id.

The email column should include student emails that were used when creating their accounts in College Kickstart.

The id column should be the student id that is exported with your historical admissions outcomes (Applications by College or Applications by Student) that you may upload for reports or Local Context. The id columns are commonly titled: Student ID, Student_ID_HS, Cialfo User ID, etc.

You can upload as many classes as you want, but we recommend uploading emails and ids of students that had a College Kickstart account. Other columns unrelated to student email or id are not necessary and will be ignored during validation.

Ensure your file doesn't have any empty columns or rows to minimize issues during validation.

If your file includes student emails without a student ID, make sure to remove these rows from your file as well.
